Andrew Barr is a trainer and strength coach working out of Renegade Training Company in Calgary and helping clients all over the world as an online coach.
After graduating from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Andrew worked as a trainer at an elite fitness club in Montreal and was also the Strength and Conditioning Coach for McGill University men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Andrew moved to Toronto in 2011 to complete his Master of Fitness Science from York University and became a Certified Exercise Physiologist. While at York, Andrew worked with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and participated in numerous research studies looking into the effect of exercise interventions on various lifestyle-related chronic diseases.
After graduating from York, Andrew became the Head Lifestyle Coach and later the General Manager of a leading Integrative Medicine Clinic where he gained further training in the areas of stress management, sleep optimization, and how lifestyle impacts health, disease risk, and performance.
Andrew sits on the board of directors of the Ontario Society for Health and Fitness, regularly volunteers at the YMCA, and is active in the basketball community through his strength and conditioning company, No Easy Baskets.
Andrew is always upgrading his training with courses, workshops, and books, and is committed to bringing the best, scientifically-validated training methods to anyone interested in doing the work and changing their life for the better.
Matt Flynn is a graduate from the University of Calgary’s Kinesiology program and a Certified Personal Trainer through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. Matt loves to work with anyone with a goal they want to achieve and has particular expertise in working with endurance athletes.
In addition to his Personal Training Certification, Matt holds his CrossFit Level One and Movement and Mobility certifications. He brings a life-long love of fitness, and a client-first philosophy to the Barr Health and Fitness team. Matt trains clients at Renegade Training Company, and also works at the YMCA.
Matt loves strength training, hiking, running, cycling and the taking cold plunges whenever the opportunity arises. More recently, he has completed several Ultramarathons and continues to pursue this discipline. Over a decade of designing and testing exercise and nutrition protocols on himself and clients, Matt has developed a comprehensive, safe and scientifically based toolbox of skills & protocols to help you reach your health & fitness goals. He believes that through consistent, structured and individualized training, one can improve their physical performance, daily function, and health all while reducing the risk of injury.
